Twins 5, Brewers 0
Bert Blyleven had given up a home run in every game he has pitched this season, until the Twins took a trip to Milwaukee.
Not only did Blyleven keep the ball in the park, he did not allow a run, giving up only four hits in a complete game shutout against the Brewers. It was Blyleven’s first shut out since September 2, 1986 against the Brewers in the Metrodome.
Tom Kelly quoted in the Star Tribune:
“We wanted Bert to pitch nine innings, we wanted him to get a shutout and we wanted him to end the home run thing,” said manager Tom Kelly. “He did three things all wrapped into one.”
Randy Bush provided more than enough runs when he hit a three run homer in the fourth inning.
