1961 Game 144: Los Angeles Angels (63-80) @ Minnesota Twins (61-81)

Monday September 11, 1961

Twins 5, Angels 2

The Angels led 2-1 after seven-and-a-half innings. All they needed from Dean Chance to come away with a victory was two more scoreless innings.

In fairness to Chance, the downhill slide started with an error charged to third baseman Tom Satriano. With Billy Martin at first thanks to an error, Chance struck out Harmon Killebrew. Two singles later, one by Bob Allison and one by Earl Battey, and the Twins had tied the game. It was the three-run home run by Joe Altobelli that put the Twins in the lead for good.
