Jim Kaat pitched a complete game, allowing just two runs and seven hits, while Billy Martin hit a three-run home run as part of a four-run third inning for the Twins, who won their second straight game by defeating the last place A’s, 6-2.

Harmon Killebrew started the scoring with a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning, his 34th of the season. Killebrew is a distant fourth in the AL home run race. Mantle and Maris are tied at the top with 45 each.
