1961 Game 116: Detroit Tigers (73-41) @ Minnesota Twins (48-67)

Sunday August 13, 1961

Twins 13, Tigers 5

After being handed a 17-3 beating the day before, the Twins came back and dished the Tigers some of their own medicine.

Bill Tuttle knocked in six runs, including a grand slam (his third home run of the season) off of reliever Phil Regan in the bottom of the fourth inning. Lenny Green and Earl Battey each had three hits and scored three runs for the home team, who impressively took a series from the second place Tigers.

The run tally equaled the highest out put of the season for the Twins’ offense. They last scored 13 runs on May 13 to move two games over the .500 mark.

Camilo Pascual pitched seven innings to earn his 10th win of the year despite allowing all five Tiger runs.
