1961 Game 94: Cleveland Indians (52-44) @ Minnesota Twins (39-54)

Saturday July 22, 1961

Indians 4, Twins 0

Mudcat Grant was a pitcher who had the Twins’ number. He displayed that again with a six-hit shutout at Metropolitan Stadium in a 4-0 Indians victory. The win improved Grant’s career record versus the Twins/Senators to 19-3.

Grant’s opposite number, Jim Kaat, didn’t pitch poorly, but allowed four runs on six hits in a losing effort. In his first full season pitching, Kaat isn’t having a lot of luck. His 3-11 record is somewhat deceiving.
