1961 Game 87: Minnesota Twins (36-50) @ Detroit Tigers (55-31)

Saturday July 15, 1961

Tigers 2, Twins 1

Camilo Pascual may have pitched one of his best games in a few months for the Twins, but he still came out on the short end.

Pascual allowed a very good Tiger lineup just two runs on seven hits just a day after Jack Kralick held the same lineup to two runs on ten hits. The only difference was that the Twins scored five runs for Kralick on Friday, but only managed one, an Earl Battey home run (9) in the seventh against Jim Bunning and the Tigers on Saturday.

The Tigers scored the game-winner when Bobo Osborne hit a solo shot off of Pascual in the bottom of the eighth inning. It was Osborne’s first home run of the season, and only his third since his major league debut in 1957.
