There wasn’t much positive for the Twins, who only managed three singles off of Washington starter Joe McClain. After allowing three runs in the first two innings, including his league-leading 23rd home run allowed, Pedro Ramos settled down and finished the game without allowing another run.

All of the Twins’ hits came from the top two men in the order, Lenny Green and Billy Martin. Numbers 3-9 went 0-for-20 with three walks.
