An Improbable Series Win

Game 69: Twins 4 (40-29), Phillies 1 (35-32)

At about 3:30 on Saturday afternoon it felt as though the Twins would not only be swept by Philadelphia, but they might not win another game this season. Such is the thinking of a fan who watches his team be outscored 17-3 the way the Twins were in the first 11 innings of the weekend series in Philly.

Then, a crazy thing happened. The team came back and won on Saturday. Then on Sunday, Carl Pavano gave the team exactly what was needed at the right time when he out-dueled Roy Halladay and pitched a complete game in a 4-1 win over the Phillies.

Now the Twins get a much needed off day before a series at Milwaukee.
