1961 Game 69: New York Yankees (42-25) @ Minnesota Twins (26-42)

Sunday June 25, 1961

Yankees 8, Twins 4

Harmon Killebrew continued his torrid pace, belting his 22nd home run – a two run shot off of Bill Stafford in the bottom of the third inning. Those runs, combined with Killer’s RBI single in the first, gave the Twins a 3-1 lead over the defending AL Champions.

Elston Howard cut the lead to one with an RBI single in the top of the fourth inning. The Yankees then rallied for two consecutive three-run innings in the sixth and seventh to put the game away. Howard hit his third home run of the year, a three-run shot off of Jack Kralick in the sixth.
