“The game kind of crushed us early”

-Ron Gardenhire, quoted by LaVelle E. Neal III.

Game 67: Phillies 9 (35-30), Twins 5 (38-29)

There will always be games like this – even for the best of teams. The starting pitcher, in this case Nick Blackburn, gets knocked around and the game is over early. For the Twins, it seems to have come at the worst of times, when their only real competition in the AL Central is beating up on the last place National League teams. I still think that this Twins team is much better than the Tigers, and, barring injury, over the course of the season they will win the division.

That’s small consolation after a game like that.
