Jim Bunning did not give the Twins a chance. The Tiger hurler allowed just four hits, struck out six, and shut the Twins out 2-0 to hand them their sixth consecutive loss. The hits were all singles, two for Zoilo Versalles and one each for Lenny Green and Dan Dobbek.

The Tigers scored both of their runs against Jack Kralick on solo home runs. Rocky Colavito hit his 13th of the year in the second inning, and Al Kaline added his fourth home run in the sixth inning to complete the scoring.

Newest Twins Billy Martin and Bill Tuttle went a combined 0-for-6.
