1961 Games 33 & 34: Cleveland Indians (18-14) @ Minnesota Twins (18-14)

Sunday May 21, 1961

Indians 9, Twins 0
Indians 2, Twins 0

The biggest crowd in Minnesota Twins history was on hand to watch one of the early front runners for worst days in Twins history. The only good news out of Sunday’s twinbill against the Indians was Lenny Green’s pair of singles – one in each game – that added two games to his now 18-game hitting streak.

On the negative side, the Twins’ offense accounted for only three more hits over the course of the two games.

In the first game, the Indians scored nine runs for Wynn Hawkins in the first four innings. Hawkins did the rest, holding the Twins to just a pair of singles.

Mudcat Grant took over from there, allowing just three hits in the second game, again all singles.
